Will a connection for USB work if used as follows

USB VBUS pin --> VBUS of MCU and also used for Charging
D+ --> D+ of MCU
D- --> D- of MCU
GND

I want to use VBus line for USB detection as well as use the power for charging at the same time

Hi,

Maybe, maybe not.
What USB port, what MCU, what charging?

Klaus

I am using renesas mcu... usb as a device.

I want to also use 5V from the usb to charge a Li ion cell... there will be a charging circuit ofcourse
--- Updated ---

Computer host --> usb cable --> mcu (usb device)

I also want to use vbus line to be used as power to charge the cell (Li Ion)

Hi,

I assume you did an internet search. So you already know that USB2.0 can deliver up to 0.5A only and - according USB specification - only after USB communication and the host acknowledges.

Or you have a DCP (charging port - no PC). No communication needed, but pin configured.
There is a lot of documentation in the internet. Read through them to get a clue what is possible / what you need.
