Besides the text r/w operation. e.g find/replace in netlist files.etc...
are there other usages of Perl stript?

Perl is powerful in handling "string", not just find/replace in netlist .
Perl is also good in CGI programming.

We use Perl to generate report , his report function is very excellent. And we use perl to generate random file for simulation.

perl is a powerful tool. you can use it to solve so many things which sometimes can drive you to the wall.

something useful , maybe help

well you can use PERL script to write algorithms for power optimization i think its the most powerful tool.

let us consider the FLOPSI network..

here from the first stage whos output is netlists transistion to HSPICE netlists where it reaches to PERL GLUE framework.. here this perl language is used for algorithmic execution of instructions.

take a look at this

with regards,

we use perl to construct our testbench and run simulation :)

simulation script. GUI tools etc

Hi

Here is a link to some sort of various Perl's EDA applications I have collected and posted.

Perl is a powerful tool, and it finds many applications in almost all fields.

Basically, Perl is extensively used for namipulating files and data. In
the field of ASIC design, Perl is used to generate data for random test,
to handle the temporal files, to organize the testbench etc.

It should be very helpful to master Perl, for ASIC designer/verification
engineers.
