I am trying to use the AD835 multiplier and I do not understand how it works. I want to get a signal out that is +/-2V out of W.

I have a differential signal going into Y1/Y2 that is +/-1V per line (2V total diff)

I need to know the size of the signal to put into X1/X2 and what resistors to connect to Z as in Figure 21 in the data sheet.

It says that R1 and R2 set the gain, but they also say that you use Vg set the gain? (My signal coming into X1/X2) How do I figure out what resistor values to use to set the gain?

They keep referring to "U" in this datasheet as well. But there is no indication of where U is on the circuit or how exactly these resistors are used to set it.

Has someone used this multiplier that can explain it to me in simple terms? How to set U? How to use X1/X2 and R1 and R2 to set the gain? With the given parameters, how to get a +/-2V W output signal?

Thanks.
