ultrasonic cleaner

I need a small ultrasonic cleaner .
Cup size about the size of a cup of coffee .
Rotring used to have such a device to clean
plotter pen's . But it's been discontinued
years ago .

Has anyone ever done this or any info on this ?

I thought i'd get me a small aluminium cup
and attatch one or more ulrasonic transducers
to it .Then drive them with some 30 kHz signal .
Just a thought

Any comment appreciated

jewelry store

These are also used to clean jewelry. Go by a jewelry store and ask where they buy their cleaner.

I know , and i also know the price of such a unit .
Even the smallest ones , wich are way to big for me
will easily be 200 to 300 $ .

That's why i'd try to build it myself .

Hi mitsuko,

such devices also exist for cleaning your third dents. Perhaps you will find
one in a big storefront.
Building such a device by your own is a little bit more complex. You have
to drive your transducer exactly at the resonance-frequency because they
have a high Q. Driving them will require a high voltage (over 100V) to get
enough power. The resonant frequency changes with temperature, the
amount of water and, and, and...
The best design I saw up to now was with a DSP measuring the current
and generating a sinewave. Easier design with a self-adjusting oscillator
will work only for small power (<20W). But for a 'cup of tea' it could be
enough.

Bye
