dear friends
i working as electrical maintenance and automation engineer at a cement plant
i need some tips for troubleshooting the faults in mcc and control panels for example where to start and what is the most common faults could you hlp me in that
if its just an MCC or a control panel, it should have some indicator lamps to guide you to check if some problems/ malfunctions occur. So first step here is to check if something is blinking red... red is the usual color of faults. This will pinpoint you to where to start. Common failures here are: motor did not start and sensor malfunctions. So the main causes for here and where to look into are:
no power at the filed terminations.... which means something is broken..... either there is a wire break or the device/sensors is already broken. Always track where the voltage is lost using a volmeter or a multimeter. Also, you could look into the controller if its in good running condition if there are controllers inside the plant. You could also try if some connections aregrounded or have poor connections so the signals are not transmitted well or were attenuated.
These guidelines are also applicable to modern control systems. If you're working in an operator MMI, it will also show you where the fault is and where to start.
