I've tried almost all AC switching circuits available online...Here are two of them which are just little different...

Here one of them has a resistor across output of triac and A1 pin and the other doesn't have that....

I tried the circuit with the resistor connected and used a simple modular switch to perform function of optocoupler. But when I connected the optocoupler in the circuit, the problem I'm facing is with the switching of optocoupler. It's not working.

I'm using MOC3041 optocoupler and BTA16-600BW triac and providing a 5V dc supply with 1kohm resistor connected at input of optocoupler LED.

Does the resistor values connected to AC line affect?

your first drawing 330 ohms are in correct position and will work ,The second drawing is wrong
