Hi guys,
I am designing a Triac AC load switch, I have few questions.
1. The Triacs can work on four quadrants .In all the quadrants triggering current to gate is from MT2 . What if triggering current to gate is from MT1. More clear, what will happen if the MT2 and MT1 interchanged..? I read somewhere(The TRIAC : THYRISTORS) that if the terminal are interchanged Triac wont conduct, but there is no reason why it is so. Is it because of its construction of MT2&MT1 channels..?

2. The load needs to be connected is rated for 277 Volt (Phase to phase difference), how this will effect the triac operation..?

Re: Triac AC load switch

Read datasheet of triac all explained there, and use zero crossing for trigger. My favorite is BTA41/600B to switch AC loads as solid state switch. BTA have isolated heatsink.

Re: Triac AC load switch

Dear friend I downloaded the datasheet, I could not find any useful information from the datasheet.
