Hi,
I have some questions about modem, Could you answer them, please?

1. Can I transmit data from PC to AVR µC by using a dial-up modem(such as External USB 56k Modem)?
2. Can I control transmit speed(data rate)? Such as 14400, 9600bps?
3. What modulator is using at the 'External USB 56k Modems'?
4. What equalizer is using at the 'External USB 56k Modems'?
5. Are V.32/V.32 bis or V.22/V.22 bis supported at this modem?
6. Can this modem detect ringing signal?

Thanks

This is a very old technology.
Answers are :
1- Yes you can do using an appropriate modem chip.
2- Almost of modem chip support handshaking.
3- it depend on the component design.
4- same as 3.
