Hi folks. Just joined this forum in the hope that you'll be able to help me out, I hope this is the right forum to post in.
I need to replace a transistor on my laptop motherboard that I carelessly knocked off while carrying out a another repair.
The marking on the top of it is 'K72'.
I've done some research, and I think it is an 2N7002W transistor.

Can anyone help to confirm that this is the correct one? I'm not sure how to identify the package, but when I look at other SOT-23 transistors, they have different markings. So I'm pretty sure this is the right one and is SOT-323.
It is always the same device (2N7002), in three different packages.
As you have identified your device in a SOT-323 from outer
dimensions, then you can be pretty sure to buy the right one.
Well, I've not actually measured the dimensions. I just searched for K72 transistor, and found the data sheet. It is a smd on a motherboard, and is pretty small. So I think it would be the sot-323 package, but I better go double check it now.

if you are sure it is a transistor, use a standard n-channel MOSFET and wires. For example IRF 840
I'm not sure that is a MOSFET, as this page is a schottky diode, may appear that looks like a transistor http://www.marsport.org.uk/smd/mainframe.htm
