If you can't implement the suggested method to locate shorts, desoldering the electrolytic caps would be possibly the next step to check if the amplifier IC is actually causing the short. If you have good tools, you can desolder the IC directly. If not, cutting individual pins and desoldering them one by one is a possible way to avoid damage of the PCB. But it would be annoying if you find that the short is elsewhere after cutting the pins.
