you control the dimming by a voltage 0->10V.
0v = lamp of
5v = lamp 50% on
10v = lamp 100% on
The opto iso4 to PE2 can be used (but is not clear in the documentation of Atmel) to detect if one will control the lamp by 0-10V.
If you have the software you can find out where PE2 is exactly used for.
