Try to check Cadence tools. I'm sure they are good choice.

Coding: UltraEdit
Simulatiion: Modelsim
Waveform viewer: Debussy nWave
Debug tool: Debussy
Synthesis: Synopsys Design Complier

Maybe the produce of Mentor is your need.

I am curious about which is the lastest NT version of DC ?

Design Complier(NT) --2000.05

What about tools for
(1) floor planning, place and route
(2) Layout
(3) physical verification like LVS, DRC
in NT environment?

You may try Tanner Tools (L-Edit)

T@nner's L-Ed!t

L-Edit can do floorplan, really ?

ps:
I have browsed Tanner's website and read the introduction about
L-Edit. As it mentioned, L-Edit is a layout editor, and can do
Place & Route, DRC, and LVS.
But it do not talk about "floor plan" ???

Thanks of the reply. But it is a stable tool for my ~700K gates design, that has both the Analog and Digital componts?

for layout, try mcad.
for simulation, try ldv.

Well....If you are dealing with big design, then I would advice you switch to linux. Since that most of the big player now do offer their tools on a linux platform.

In addition, Linux (you may try Redhat 7.3 to save some problem) is pretty user friendly now.

If you plan to go to linux platform, you might consider
1) Candence
2) Synopsys/Avanti
3) Mentor

Synopsys give u very good frontend tools while cadance give u the ever best tools for backend.

I heard from real IC-design guys say that
Avanti(now Synopsys) P&R tool, naming APPOLO, routing efficiency is very good in terms of Die Size and Chip speed performance for afer routing it has a smaller die area. Is that true ?

Apollo is now called Astro, and SE is also good.

I suggest you to migrate to linux. It is more reliable than windows. Both Cadence & Synopsys offer great tools for this platform.

it's no good for designing ic at windows env
in oeder to learn ic design,i migrate to linux

i have heard that this one is no so good for synthesize
this is the last version for windows

simulation : Modelsim or ncverilog or VCS
Waveform : nwave
Debug : Debussy
Synthesis : Design compile
DFT : syntest or DFT compile
APR : Astro
LVS : Dracula

hi
now a days industry is using Linux more in case of EDA tools.so better learn linux.windows environment also you can use.
for front end:ModelSim,Maxplus,
synthesis:Xilinx,Quatrus,
For Backend:Tanner,Ledit,
