Time delay estimation by micro-controller

Do you think it is possible to estimate the delay between two sinusoidal signals by using cross correlation calculation and implementing with a micro-controller (e.g. ATmega)?

Is there any good idea?
 

It all depends on the accuracy you want. Also, if the delay factor may be modified due to the quantisation in fixed point calculations. For floating point, no problems in estiomation. You will get it...
