Thyristor protection with matlab simulink

matlab thyristor

I have problem when i want to switch on the thyristor in my AC circuit. I got voltage spike much higher than rated voltage. I have read some IEEE paper that suggest me to use surge arrester to protect my thyristor. Does anybody can help me with the surge arrester in matlab simulink or can suggest any other method to protect my thyristor from overvoltage?
