As the technology is shrinking down the threshold voltage is decreasing but our leakage is increasing right? so wt we can do to ocntrol the leakage current ?
One thing is by increasing the threshold voltage but threshold voltage is not in our hand to increase right? it comes from the foundy....so wt we can do?

Plz explain the clear concept not by the equations...
Thanks

technology scaling can be done without varying the threshold voltage too.... same technology can be made with different threshold voltages... it depends on doping and material too.....

read any low power design material. will find more details and information

Thats why u get standard cells as HVT RVT and LVT, (Higher, regular and lower thershold voltages).

U can use this to reduce leakage..But less leakage cell will have more delay..i.e., HVT cells have more delay than LVT.

so u can use LVT for timing critical paths and other places use HVT to reduce overall leakage..

Thanks

deal with leakage current shouldn't be take account by technology engineer? what could do a digital designer ?

Threshold voltage can be changed dynamically. Remember a transistor is a four terminal device. In digital design a transistor is represented by three terminals only (gate, drain and source respectively) because the fourth terminal which is '"substrate"
is by default connected to vdd(in case of pnp) or gnd(in case npn). By biasing the substrate voltage to other than vdd or gnd one can change "vt" of that particular transistor.
