I have a 110V,6A, 60Hz three phase motor and need to power with a two phase 110V home outlet. Is it possible? How?

Regards,

Fernando

put a capacitor between one of the two phases available and the third phase on the motor.

One way to go is to build a static phase converter [based on capacitors] ..
Here is detailed description on how to do that:

Dear JoannesPaulus and Ianp,

Very thank you for your tips. How can I calculate the size (capacitance) of these capacitors?

Regards,

Fernando

Try to use these estimations (link provided before):
Code:
CL1-L3 = 4 to 5 times the motor horsepower [in µF]
CL2-L3 = 10 to 15 times the motor horsepower [in µF]
Cstarter = 40 to 100 microfarads just for testing
I don't think you will find exact formulas to calculate them ..

IanP

Take a look at:

in the 3-phase converter section.
There are converter examples and links.

Hello.

Please note, that you can never get the full power from the motor. I think it's about 70% or so.

That would apply for a 3-phase motor running on single-phase power only.
With a properly balanced converter, you can get almost the full nameplate
rating on the load motor. Note that the converter should be properly sized;
usually 2x to 3x the HP for the idler.
