I don't know how many have worked on this but if u have worked plz share your experience..........

In microwave region Photonic bandgap are use and it has many advantages.
U may have come across this but many have nelglected the topic
So This thread will provide everying from basics of photonic band gap to designing devices using pbg.
I don't know how many of u are interested in new topic.

Let me start with

" Photonic Bandgap structures are periodic structures that exhibit wide bandpass and band rejection properties at microwave frequencies. By introducing dielectric rods, holes and patterns in waveguides and PCB substrates forms photonic Bandgap (PBG) structures.

" In 1987, Eli Yablonovitch proposed to carry materials with periodic structure in which electromagnetic waves could not be propagated, this, in similar way to the atomic crystals where the electronic excitations are prohibited for certain energy or frequency bands. Thus were born these concepts of Photonic Band Gap (PBG) and photonic crystals.

To be continue.........

My paper on PBG is posted on this link

Title: PBG Effect on a Modified Wilkinson Power Divider

Published in 6th national conference on microwaves and antennas held at jodhpur India in dec 2005
