an anyone tell me what do i see on a multimeter if i want to see the output of pulse width modulation on multimeter .

as i increase the pulse on time , the voltage goes on increasing from 0 v to 5 volts on multimeter .
what i want to know is that the voltage level of the pwm is same 5v wenever it is high then why does my multimeter not read only 0v or 5V
. is it because of samplking time or what ? please help !

soundscope e multimeter

multimeter is too slow for this kind reading , better for dc.

use soundscope >>>>>>>>

multitester + pwm

yes you can use voltmeter for PWM
if you have 50% duty cycle it will show 2.5 V
remember your are reading DC Voltage
so for 75% it will 3.75 V and so on

lcd multimeter

avg value ????

what about frequency range ?

pwm multimeter voltage

If your multimeter can measure frequency possibly it will have an option to measure the dutycycle. (most of them have)

If you dont have an multimeter (with frequency) then your best friend is logic analyer

how to measure a pwm pulse multimeter

a scope will do the job.. you'll find good deals on ebay.

Re: pwm and multimeter!

you can build a cheep probe to measure duty and frequency using a single pic micro and an lcd

maybe another project for you
