What is the technology behind 3G networks ? whether GSM or CDMA ? Please explain deeply

GSM phones do not support 3G but all 3G phones support GSM.
GSM is optimized for voice. Voice has to put a high priority on getting things there, in order. 3G is optimized for data, which means that if a few packets get there out of order, or even lost... well, things get delayed a bit, but that's OK, you can just ask for the data again. That would be intolerable for holding a conversation, but just fine for downloading a file.

If your 3G bandwidth is high enough, you can use a VOIP-type system on top of it, and you wouldn't need GSM at all. People have already used that to circumvent the limitations on the voice plans on iPhones, but it makes the phone companies cranky and it's not very reliable.
