tape drive to IDE

I have an old single board PC using tape drive.
I want to use IDE interface instead (harddisk, floppy drive)

How to design such a tape drive ---> IDE convertor?

i need seamless read & write access to the disk drive, and i don't have access to change the program already contained in the single board PC.

any suggestion, help, links, are welcomed
