Could someone help me???!
i use microcontroller to control 2x16 matrix LCD and its all bundled in a metal case. Sometimes the lcd just goes blank (but the controller still works) when i put it near another equipment that produces EMC (selenoids, Relay, etc.) and or AC line noise.
1. I've tried to tied the earth terminal directly to the metal case, hope it will reduce the EMC and noises received. but it doesnt work.
2. I moved my device further to noise generator equpment, it works, the problem dont appear any more. but its not the solution. my device must be put near that noise generator. and its imposible to move it further more.
anyone have suggestion???how to protect my LCD data lines?
I suggest you to check your power supply, for example put a good capacitor at the supply entrance. If this does not help, you can consider a common-mode choke (for example look at Wurth Elektronik) to suppress transients on the supply cables.
Also, I am not that sure it's a good idea to connect the shield to the ground... try to connect shield and ground through a capacitor (e.g. 10 nF) in series with a 100R resistance
