I am currently designing a surge protection and suppression circuit for signal conditioning.The signals will come from a thermocouple and hence are expected to have a very wide range of COMMON MODE inputs.I goggled about surge protection but it always takes me to surge protection for AC mains.I need some information related to surge protection for signal conditioning applications like thermocouple etc..If anyone has experience in this field please kindly share there thoughts.

TVS diodes and MOVs are particularly used for surge protection purpose, which you can easily get from Mouser.com or Digikey.com.
I am looking for surge suppression circuits used in signal conditioning applications like the signals which we get from thermocouples.They are very small couple of uV.I need to protect my instrument from surges coming from the thermocouple end.For my case,1500Vrms is the limit.I think there are some techniques using transformers but I havent found solid theory behind them.If you have kindly share it.
