I'm looking for a good transistor for 1 - 40MHz. IP3 is critical. Anyone have experience with either the 2N5109 or the MRF581A?

tnx

Any specs for power/linearity/modulation/noise figure/application?

2sc5551 ip3

2N5109 is an old favourite! Will give good IP3 in these frequency ranges. Anzac did offer a module AM-109 wich offers +40 dBm IP3, and excellent IP2 due to balanced circuit.

You can use most wide band transistors which application were for TV distribution, as it had a very high demand on linearity.

Why not try the BFR96...

Bottom line, I do use 2N5109 when ever I can it is a great transistor, but getting hard to find a decent prices.

tnx to all. I'll start data sheet shopping now, :).

I have 28V to work with and want to keep current below 350mA.

The devices will be used in a conventional FF design.

vfone & webdog,

The 2SC5551 went DISCO September 2008. They talk about a replacement (2SC5551A) but there is no data sheet or page for the A rev part.

Motorola use to make some nice parts

I was wondering about the BFR96 (###.microsemi.com/datasheets/BFR96REVA.pdf). Vce <20V, Ic < 100mA. Would I get a better IP3 with a larger device?

Appreciate your opinion!!!
