Strange behavoiur of HFSS

Hi all,

I am noticing strage behaviour of HFSS in our lab installation. Every 5 minutes or so, it stops responding for about 1 minute and then continues perfectly. Simulations, results etc are all fine but this problem is irritating to say the least. Any cures ?

Dear svarun,
I suspect that this problem may be related to the frequent use of the pagefile during the simulation. Some of my friends using HFSS encountered a similar problem. A good idea may be to check the taskmanager during simulation and monitor the cpu usage, memory usage, and the page file usage. So little problems may become so big annoyances

It may be loosing connection or having a slow response fromn the license server. Pull your network connection and see if it duplicates the problem.

I think, you need to check your computer's Processor temperature . During HFSS-simulation, you have 100% CPU usage and CPU temperature is very high. May be you have CPU overheating and Processor is stoping and waiting 5 minutes - it's delay time before thermal activation from high temperatures (You can select this time in your computer BIOS-setup).
Verify that the Processor's heatsink is properly installed and make sure the CPU fan is working.

Thanks. This was the problem.We shifted the license to a new server and it looks like it is stable now.
