sticky parity

Hi,

I have a query on the use of sticky parity on bit 5 of LCR in the serial communication. Sticky parity will force the parity for the LCR(4) to take a opposite state for transmission and reception. This allowed for known state to user.

I am still unclear about this statement. Is there any simpler clearer explanation?

Thanks for your help!
