stepper motor driver ic

Hi all, may i know which IC can be use to control a 12V bipolar stepper motor (I think got only 4 wires as control signals)
If possible schematics as well.

by the way, wats the diff between unipolar and bipolar stepper motor?
unipolar only turns in one direction? bipolar turns in both directions?
do unipolar and bipolar has fast and slow control?

thanks.

Hi wakaka,

look here: https://www.cs.uiowa.edu/~jones/step/
diff between unipolar and bipolar is in the way how it works. Unipolar has single common wire from all coils and you just need to set another end of the coil. in bipolar you have e.g. 2 coild with both ends connected to control circuit and you need to change polarity at the coil e.g. by h bridge. both motors can turn both direction. Speed is controlled by freq by which you are changing state of control wires.

Assalamo Allykum !

You can use ULN2003 for driving the 12V Stepper MOtor.

I have used this IC in my project and it was working perfectly.

Wish you a good luck.

Take Care
