Hi,

are the following statements about polarisation of antennas corrrect?

Antennas with vertical pol can’t receive signals from antennas with horizontal pol.
Antennas with RH circular pol can’t receive signals from antennas with LH circular pol.

These statements are of a limited validity. The truth is that antenna designed for one specific polarization type rejects the orthogonal wave by e.g 20-30 dB.

You can try it yourself if you make an FM transmitter and use an FM radio.
Use a piece of straight wire for each antenna. One is horizontal and the other is vertical. You will see that the distance between them must be much less than if they both have the same orientation. Then move one antenna so instead of exactly 90 degrees the angle is maybe 80 degrees to 100 degrees to see the reception begin to improve.
