Stand alone programmers which don't use PC at all are outdated. All expensive universal programmers and inexpensive parallel port compatible In-System-Programmers are all PC based.

If you are refering serial port interface for PonyProg for PIC, the schematic is here

I check again and both the page and link are OK. I upload for you the schematic. If you find this one useful, you have to figure out what wrong with you internet connection because you will then need the software and documentation, which I would not upload for you.

I known this programmer long time ago, but don't have any chance to build it. In fact I don't need it for the time being. This is due to I have ICD2 as my programmer as well as debugger.

But I think one day I may need it. I can think that in future when I will be doing a complicated project, which may require updating the firmware at end-user site.

Just get me informed about how well it work for you.

by tony nixon. it has to be a great stand alone porgrammer
but it cant support 16F628 . I have had a play with changind the pocket
chip include file but no good so far when programming...

any shortcuts would be good..
