I am trying to design a simple but accurate sound level meter. Please give me suggestions how can I made it. Also I will use a microcontroller to read the data and convert to dB. any help is appreciated

Thanks

use a transducer say a sensitive microphone and rectify the input signal and get its rms value.... get a reference signal of known decibel level and find its rms value and store it.... now compare your input signal with that known signal and find the decibel level of the input signal and do the necessary processing you wanna do....
