some question about BUCK application

this is the application of the ZXLD1350

the LX is the drain of the NMOS (Switich)
the source of it is gnd

but i am puzzled about the connection of the LEDs ,inductor and diode beca this is different from the normal

can you tell me what advantage and drawback of this

i think that the circuit can drive more LEDs by this
