For anyone interested in making his/her own small radio telescope:
I have developed a simple solar radio telescope with parabolic dish of 1-ft or 32 cm diameter. As the receiver, a satellite LNB for Ku-band or Ka-band can be used, or with a larger dish, a C-band LNB.
A simple IF amplifier and detector follows, with an opamp driving an analog meter-indicator.
The complete instrument operates on a 12V DC power supply or a battery. Against the cold sky, solar noise is prominent, and the instrument can also be used for remote-sensing demonstration. Microwave noise emission of persons, buildings, vegetation and other objects can be clearly seen.

Anyone interested, please e-mail to jiripol@yahoo.com. Details and schematics available.
