does anyone know of a free downloadable software for drawing electronic schematic diagram? There are a lot out there, but i want to have a good and user-friendly one.The software must have those IC chips and other electrical components for me to build the schematic.

I tried to search using google for several days and found some useful tools.
keyword:
protel
orcad
freedownload
crack
( since i just told you my experience, i am not responsible for any virus risks. actually, people don't put virus in this kind of huge size application softwares.)
Well protel and orcad might be a bit to complicated to just draw some schematics.
Visio is usefull for system design diagrams but a pain to use to draw schematics (I guess)
Try Eagle from www.cadsoftusa.com, it is mainly for schematic/PCB designe but there is many librarys with components and the only limitations when drawing schematics in the freware version is a 1 page limit
I personally use EAGLE (see aslm's post for link).
The demo allows only one page for schematics, but unlimited number of components/ pins.
The demo PCB only allows 2 layers, 80x100mm maximum. This is generally enough for home projects.
If the above limitations are an issue, you can try the free software from FreePCB: http://www.freepcb.com
I am not particularly fond of it, but you can make it work and the libraries are not too bad. It is relatively easy to create your own components if you need to.
