I am software engineer, interested to shift to Embedded side. Please guide me,

I am an Electronics and communication Engineer (B.E 2005 passed out ). Presently working in Java , web technologies.

Please give me the details like 1) what are the basic necessary knowledge required to switch over to Embedded and RTOS side.
2) Who are the major players ( MNC companies) in this field?
3) Which Books to read and which tools I must be familier?
4) A sample resume format of 2 years experience person?
