receiver snr calculation

Hi,

Just a query on the calculation of SNR for the heterodyne system.

In a heterodyne system, we have a signal at the heterodyne frequency. When we want to calculate the SNR of the system, do we calculate it as the ratio of the signal detected over the fluctuation(variation/deviation) of the signal at that particular heterodyne frequency

Or do we calculate it over the range of detectable frequency by our detector? ie
the ratio of the signal detected over the fluctuation of signal at all detectable frequency?

Thanks for your help!

Re: SNR Calculation

It is basically ratio of power of useful signal to waste signal.

Basically in finding out the SNR we compare the power of the signals , ansd that time some noise may or may not be overlooked as the receiver may or may not be properly synchronized to all frequency .... for ideal receiver the SNR is calculated with respect to the signal + AWGN .

i think here wil;e calculatting snr we r not considering frequency
