Sim908 using internal GPS

I looked over the hardware design and reference design and not much is mentioned about using the onboard GPS u.fl antenna. Clearly I don't connect GPS-ANT, but do I connect GPS-VANT-IN to GPS-VANT-OUT? I would assume not (it's not mentioned), but I have seen schematics connect them!

Please has anyone not connected them to each other, or not? What is the proper design choice....
