my application constantly switches on/off a SIM908 and I am wondering if this is a good idea. I read the data sheet it doesnt mention a number of times repeatedly this can happen.

As SIM908 turns on every time, it registers with the networok. Does this damage the IC if this happens around 24 times a day for 365 days? or for couple of years?

Is there a way around it?

is it much better to keep it connected to the GSM network? does it increase the lifetime of SIM908 ?
