Hi,

which is more popular sim card 6pins or 8 pins ?

and does the pins are compatible together..So 6pin can be attached in 8pin simcard packet...?

use of 6 pins in sim card

All contemporary chipcards use only 6 pins. Pins C4 and C8 (the 2 additional pins of a 8 pin card) aren't used today.
The assignment of the 6 remaining pins (better 5, as Vpp is also not used) are standardized according to ISO-7816. You can also check this in the GSM specs.

There's another exception:
in some homebrew cards like Goldwafer the external EEPROM can directly be programmed via C4 and C8 - but that's really not a standard.
