what are the main differences between a short-channel design against a design with long-channel transistors ?? I mean, the short-channel effects to keep in mind when designing a circuit.

the quicker tapering and decrease of length of the channel region. that is,more of a channel length modulation. and also the body effect.

if you just do analog design, you'd better pay more attendtion on short-channel effect for which the ideal-model can't be good.
in my experience , for long-L , the Vt viarance is fisrt degree concern of matching, for short-L, L mismatch is major concern
