It will probably work with RS232 and if its for hobby go ahead. If its for work.. use RS485 or I2C. Maybe if they had chinese feet :p

I2C is short distance communication at PCB level.

For large distance use RS485, or CAN bus.

Is that schematic for real ??

All receivers are connected together , and all xmitters the same.....

How will a receiver ever receive anything with no xmitter connected ?

/Bingo

Hi!

RS-485 is the right solution to your problem.

You should call the server 'master' and the clients 'slaves'.

DATASHEET MAXIM RS-485 Transceiver
MAX485E up to 32 transceivers on the bus.
MAX487E and MAX1487E up to 128 transceivers on the bus.

Example with RS-485

I2C on long cables:

Using the Philips P82B715 I2C extender on long cables.
(Read first AN444.pdf).
