Hi
Could I have you help please.
We are in process of SAR ADC design with CDAC .
I want to simulate CDAC stand alone and see how good is it after extraction.
All what I know is simulate CDAC as part of ADC and look on ADC parameters like ENOB DNL INL...
We don't have ADC ready and I know that i can model missing block by Verilog A or ideal components but I want to simulate CDAC alone.
Could you please advise me with CDAC simulations?
I can run DNL for every CDAC step for example and see every step weight.
Thanks in advance

Falstad's animated interactive simulator is free to download and use:

falstad.com/circuit

Its menu contains a library of circuits. Among the DAC circuits is an R-2R type (below, inverted using the Flip Y command). Easily modified into a CDAC.

Standalone CDAC schematics appear in this link:

Hi
I probably need to clarify myself.
I want to simulate CDAC stand alone with Cadence tools.
Actually I am after the parameters which can indicate that CDAC is good enough - meet SPEC.
What type of simulation would you run and what parameters would you test to ensure that your CDAC is good after extraction
Thanks

I don't think there is any other way of simulating your CDAC other than creating a behavioral model of the entire ADC and then replacing CDAC with an extracted view. Creating a SAR ADC model wouldn't take too much time, but will benefit you in future for block verification and debugging.
