Hello people of the edaboard forum .Long time not posting.I faced a problem , if anyone can give me a hand .
i have an lcd wich PN rt1602s lcd mini green 16x2 lines , i do not find the real datasheet of it . i made a little circuit , and flashed two mcu but still read dots . the fw is working,but i need pinout of it , i do not know the manufacturer. the 3 pin Vo is not found for brightness things , wich i guess is two high or low to see the char .

If you can see dots the contrast is OK, I guess it is pre-set on that board with internal resistors. There are many LCDs marked '1602' with different letters but I think they all use HD44780 or compatible controllers so your problem is probably in firmware.

Brian how are you. I guess like you about a preset for the contrast .I say the about the few is okay cause it is flashed twice with different ic and succesfull and the project is working .it is an rds decoder.
Basically what you need:
* correct power supply (usually 5V)
* correct contrast
* correct wiring
* correct port setup
* init for 4 bit mode (according HD44780, 2 lines)
* communication in 4 bit mode (according HD44780)
--> check one after the other or give us enough informations to check.
