Thanks sam_pr! Interesting program.

Have anybody some tool for passing data from COM1 to COM2 with monitoring and logging? It is needed to exam traffic between two devices connected by serial line.

Portmon is a nice and free tool for monitoring the ports.
Download from http://www.sysinternals.com

Btw. sysinternals got a lot of free and useful tools (filemonitor, registrymonitor ...)

Hi,

check out http://www.mmvisual.de/ and download the BinTerm software.
You can also debug USB with this nifty little tool.

Hi,

I use the serial montior from hxxp://www.hhdsoftware.com/
It can sniff the windows serial port. Not only the really port
but also the emulation port (Like bluetooth or IR serial port).

I used it as port monitor to check protocol between device driver
and my firmware through bluetooth serial port.

Although it is shareware, you can use it up to 100 times with
full functions.

final, it is not the hardware rs-232 montior. It is a software sniffer.

rs232 to siow softwar

Hello,

My experience is with Crosstalk MArk 4 - it's really amazing software for communication. It has very powerful script language as well - so you can track events or sending with singel key press complicated dialogs.

When testing my projects with GSM modules it really works nice.

Unfortunately I have no links to Crosstalk....

Regards
Luben

does anyone have a link or a good schematic for a good HARDWARE rs232 sniffer ?
memorize the data, and then read them by connecting to a pc, also something which gives the baud rate, parity automatically ?

siow.exe serial input output monitor

With ComLite32 for Windows 95, your PC is transformed into a powerful communications protocol analyzer. ComLite32 is able to "attach" to a serial communications port, allowing you to investigate the protocol in use, even when no documentation exists. The communication activities of any program which uses the serial ports can be monitored. You can also break the serial path between two devices and insert a PC running ComLite32. This allows you to non-intrusively listen to existing communication links. This can be useful if neither device is a PC running Windows 95.
