The shown waveform isn't the PFC input current, otherwise it wouldn't deserve the name. The high frequency ripple (triangular waveform) has to be absorbed by Cin. According to the required power factor, the input current can't be much higher than the value that you can calculate from the nominal load - just the principle of PFC.
 

thankyou FvM, so you are saying that the differential mode X2 cap just prior to the diode bridge will supply the "spikey" current ?

....and that for designing the common mode choke, i just need to consider current as a sine wave and "take the rms of that ?

eg for for 24W input, i just take the current as being a sine of 100mA RMS ? , and forget about the "spikey" current
 

Yes, at least wit a correct designed PFC circuit.
