There are lot of RJ45 magnetic jacks available in market. Almost all of them have similar layout on the wire connector side however they have different pinouts on the PCB mouting side. Is there a way to check the pinouts without having to open the connector ?
I want to verify if the pins are matching to the datasheet since people give some datasheet and part turns out to be something else.
Thanks for the response.
Can you elaborate on the method of verification of transformer windings ?
In the figure, I want to verify if P1,P2,P3 correspond to J1 and J2
- measure resistance only and verify that P2 and P5 are center taps of P1/P3 and P4/P6.
- use a signal generator and oscilloscope to check polarity and Rx/Tx assignment
I presume, the first option should be usually sufficient to distinguish between different pin mappings
