I read in one of the papers that a ring oscillator with even number of stages can also oscillate if every inverter is the same!!
Does anyone have any insight or documentations regarding this??

An even number will have 180 degrees phase shift a some frequency so COULD oscillate. It is probably more likely to just get stuck at Vdd or Vss.
