RF Shield Issue

Hi All,
Does GSM modules require RF shields for the circuits that they are connected to ? Can you provide some further knowledge please ?

Thanks in advance

Re: RF Shield Issue

The GSM module doesn't radiate itself, the antenna does. So shielding of electronic circuits that are possibly susceptible to
interferences is mainly a question of the antenna position. Standard logic and processor circuits residing on a a ground plane
shouldn't have problems with a near by antenna. For sensitive analog circuits, depends on. Another question is active EMC of the
circuit, a bad designed digital circuit can possibly disturb the GSM receiver.

RF Shield Issue

FvM, does that mean if we place antenna considerably far away from electronic circuit we will not need a shield at all (assuming there are little to no EMC issues)?

Re: RF Shield Issue

There is also the issue of the other electronics radiating energy in the GSM band and hampering the reception.
