Hi all,
I am a computer engineer, I have to make an automotive application that uses a RF link between the moving vehicle and a PC station.

I will use the ATMEL ATA5811 RF tranciever. This chip output power is about 10 dbm at 50 ohm. If i uses a whip antena I want to know approixmately the range of this RF link?

If any body has any suggestions for another RF trancievers, antenas it will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Yours,
Yasser Shoukry A. Sakr

Re: RF range

u say ur output power is about 10dBm it is 10 mW , the range will be limited , will not exced about 10 or 20 meters ,

but i am not sure

but u can increase the range by adding a power amplifier after the TX chip

RF range

Thanl you khouly, but i forgot to say that the tranciever sensitvity is -105dbm and the antenna gain is 0 dbm.

Can any one give me accurate calculations??

Thanks in advance,
