Glitch is basically disruptive or toggeling of a signal else invalid or unexpected output. Basic problem with the glitch can be loss of data. As example, if you are having a digital sequential circuit which operates with a clock and if clock or data has glitch @ a point to be data to latch-in then it misses the edge. Then data will have to wait for next edge and during that time data may or may not change.
A "glitch" is an unwanted pulse caused by the designer not compensating for pulses leading or lagging the main clock transition, often caused by the transistion delays through chips. If two identical pulse trains are processed through a different number of gates, the two resultent pulse trains, while looking correct will have shifted time wise, so if they are ever gated togather again there will be a spurious very short pulse equal to the differences in the gate propogation times.
