Resonator Selection

how to choose which type of resonator to use? LC-dielectric-coaxial.... and what will be the difference between 2 element LC and 3 element resonator? (i don't mean in the connection).

regards

Re: Resonator Selection

Hi,

resonator choice usually revolves around the Q required....

RLC, LC have limited Q... and values required may not be readily available.

Dielectric resonators have very high Q and you can buy these at the freq u need. But they may be more costly if u only need a few...

All voice down to the basic engineering problem: trade-offs... cost vs stability vs ease of implementation.

Hope this helps!

Re: Resonator Selection

Hi ,gecky.How are u?
e,e, In my VCO design,i choose coaxial resonator.cheap and low phase noise.

Resonator Selection

microstrip resonator is cheapest

Resonator Selection

It largely depend on the frequency and Q factor you needed.
