general observation in India is that, colleges do not have enough professors who can help students in project on latest technologies. while considering projects that also has to be kept in mind.

Regarding WiMAX,
There are many simulation software such as ns2, ns3 open source, Omnet++ (open source), and Opnet(licensed software) available in the software side.
focus a particular area and please do have a discussion with your project guide and proceed..
